MISE EN PLACE WINES
My path to winemaking has led me around the world but started in a kitchen in upstate NY at aged 14. From that young age I started to think about flavour in new ways thanks to some very generous chefs who trained me as a budding adult. After years in the food industry and many lessons learned I jumped at the prospect of travel and meeting new people through winemaking.
Thanks to this glorious industry I have had the pleasure of calling a few very beautiful places home abroad on the Sonoma Coast and here in the Yarra Valley. My time in California was not only remarkably influential in the way I thought about sensitive & thoughtful wine production but also inspired my ongoing passion for organic viticulture.
People such as Sue Bass (Porter Bass), Ted Lemon (Littorai), Pax Mahle (Pax) and Katy Wilson (LaRue) all added fresh perspectives and shared their knowledge which made these apprenticeships indelible experiences.
My love for the Yarra Valley and the great people that come with it eventually drew me back to Oz which is why I find myself stationed in Steels Creek to this day.

Each year the varieties and regions may change but the intention is always the same, to produce delicious abundant wines that taste delicious and smell like fresh cut flowers. The grapes are sourced from some of the top vineyards in Victoria which in some years stretch beyond regional lines on the map - these blends often come from multiple premium regions around Victoria.

I’m still in the same shed where this journey began 5 years ago. Finding this home was pivotal in my ability to set down roots to build this project, this is why I named the vineyard attached to the shed ‘Homeblock’. Pushing 30 years old, these own rooted Syrah and Cabernet vines were planted by the previous owner Richard, a very good mate of mine. These vines were directed towards organics from the start and were successfully tended to throughout the wetter le Nina years of ’21, ’22 & ’23. They are resilient vines that produce elegant wines with power and finesse.
